Assignment # 1: Senior Year and AP English

Since the beginning of High School when I walked on to campus scared by the intimidating Seniors in my first period, I could not grasp that in three short years I would be in there position. Knowing that I need an outline of what I want to do after high school, picking out what colleges I'm applying to, and realizing even though it is my last year of forced schooling I want to keep going and learn more and more. It still frightens me that in less then a year I will be doing all of those things and having a clear view of the path I am taking for the rest of my life.

Although this puts a lot of stress into my life, I am tremendously excited to start Senior year. I made a promise to myself not to get Senioritis (as everyone does) and really hope to stick to that. Dr.Preston's AP English Literature class will hopefully help me stick to my goal, as I heard from last year from all my senior friends, this class will keep my on my toes.

What I want from this AP Literature course is to broaden my horizons in writing and literature. To stretch my way of thinking in new directions, when I had Dr. Preston my sophomore year I was even more scared then I am now. Going back into his class I couldn't be more enthused about an AP course. What I missed and am sure to look forward to is the discussions we have as a class, reaching new conclusions to how we think about different topics was my favorite part about sophomore Honors English.

Now skipping ahead to senior year, I understand that this class will be more strenuous then Dr.Preston's sophomore class. Just by us having this blog I can tell it will be different, yet of course in a good way. I am interested to see what the rest of the year has to hold.
